There are basically three methods for getting access to IKARUS:
Please note that no matter what type of account you are requesting access to, you must first successfully complete KISR's training course on how to use IKARUS. This course is provided freely to KISR research staff.
During KISR's training course on how to use IKARUS, you will be provided with the basic information to help with issues of accessing and using the system when you are provided with your system authentication details. Furthermore, the IKARUS portal provides usage documents that detail solutions for a wider range of issues. However, any but the most basic questions regarding the use of the various research software applications, and especially questions invovling details of your field of study, are likely to be beyond our expertise, and you are best off directing such questions at your colleagues.
Basically, for system type questions, kindly open a help or trouble ticket via the IKARUS portal. Otherwise, please refer to the usage documents or other such helpful sources.
KISR considers all the requests for accessing IKARUS, even for general use. These requests are most often awarded to researchers investigating resource allocation requirement. Small resource allocations are provided by IKARUS for researchers of other affiliations who wish to investigate whether their research could benefit from its resources. Kindly contact us for more information.
Generally, you can access IKARUS resources from foreign countries, but there are a few exceptions. The State of Kuwait enforces sanctions against a small number of countries, and access to IKARUS resources is not available for these sanctioned countries. In particular, the blocking of the authentication service will prevent accessing IKARUS from the affected countries.
